The Dominant Eye

I have often had a problem looking people in the eyes. I try to look into both of them at the same time, but always end up looking in just one at a time.

The other thing I have noticed is that I always tend to look in the same eye when talking to certain people. I call this their dominant eye.

Recently I was being chewed out by a superior at work, and noticed that when I looked into his non dominant eye he became uncomfortable and could no longer make eye contact with me. It was so drastic that I noticed him losing his train of thought when I did it.

Maybe I will have more reports on this in the future. Let me know if anyone has similar experiences.

The advantage of a down economy!

Hah! You thought I was going to give you some good news. Well I guess if you are a small to medium sized business owner this might make you happy. But then again, if that is who you are you already know this.

As the owner of a small to medium sized business you are pretty much expected to lay people off during economic downturns. Reduce head count and watch everyone in the company scramble to find more work for themselves. Anything to make themselves indispensable. Now you can just sit back and watch your productivity go through the roof.

So go ahead and take advantage of your employees during these hard times. We can't wait until the job market opens back up again and your left retraining all of the new hires who fill the left over positions of the deserters.
